Summer is coming and you want to be bikini ready, but no matter how much you try to eat a healthy diet and exercise, the results are not showing. Well, there could be a reason for that. Read on to find out the most common mistakes people make when trying to lose weight.
Mistake No. 1: Starvation – Starvation is the worst, and the most common mistake when it comes to trying to lose weight. Starvation causes your metabolism to slow down and your body to start to preserve body fat. The food that you do eat ends up getting stored instead of being used in a healthy manner and the result is that your body is not as capable of burning fat. For these reasons, starvation is not a good idea for long-term weight loss goals.
Mistake No. 2: Yo-Yo Dieting – Yo-yo dieting can also be harmful. When your body is introduced to new diets, your metabolism gets thrown off trying to adjust to these radical changes. Like the effects of starvation, your metabolism will also go into fight or flight mode, slowing down and storing fat. Furthermore, your digestion will suffer as will your emotional state. You can become psychologically frustrated and end up becoming discouraged, depressed and burned out.
Mistake No. 3: Various ways of non-exercise – You have probably heard stories that visit the sauna, wrapping yourself in plastic wrap and the like, can help with weight loss. The truth is, that although sweating is a good indicator that calories are being burned, this is only the case if the sweat is resulting from exercise.
Mistake No. 4: Not Eating a Well-Balanced Diet – When people try to lose weight, they often exclude foods which can help them reach their goals. These foods include ones that contain fiber and protein
both of which can help the body burn calories and digest food properly.
